06/11/09 Education is Lifelong - Introductory Speech for Gov. Strickland's Visit

On June 11, 2009, EBO Group had the great honor to welcome to our company the Governor of the state of Ohio, Governor Ted Strickland. The visit included a short meeting with our senior management, a tour of our facility, and a talk on education to all our employees by the Governor. EBO’s President, Keith Nichols, gave an introductory speech, the essence of which follows:

Good Afternoon!

EBO Group Employee Owners, today we have the privilege to welcome a very special guest. His visit confirms that EBO Group is becoming recognized as one of the most innovative companies in our fine state.

We have not become this by accident. The list of educational accomplishments of our colleagues is impressive. Out of 67 employees, we have:

4 current engineering Co-Op students;
6 completed Associate Degrees;
25 Bachelor degrees;
19 of which are in engineering;
2 registered professional engineers;
5 with Masters degrees;

Many others have attended seminars and management programs, some using the State of Ohio’s Investment Training Program. In addition, EBO Group has 26 issued patents and many more in the pending or preparation stage.

At EBO Group, education is a lifelong process for everyone. Through our EBO Process, every employee, every three months, grows their capabilities in ways that best fit their learning methods and aimed at goals they have set for themselves. As a result, we have many employees who have never stepped foot in a college classroom who are every bit as proficient at their chosen specialties as our degreed workers. They are just as highly respected and just as important to our team’s efforts to succeed and grow.

EBO Group also sponsors 3 scholarships at Highland High School to support students seeking a college education

So we all know the value of education. We also know that changes are needed to keep Ohio at the forefront of education for our children. To tell us more about education in Ohio, and share his vision on the future of the education system in Ohio, we at EBO Group proudly welcome the Governor for the State of Ohio, Governor Ted Strickland!
